Halloween is a traditional annual celebration among non-muslims, this is practice is widely apparrant in the Western world and has variations of it in other parts of the world.
The origin of Halloween came from the Celtics of the 8th century and they celebrated this day (31st October) as Samhain believing the ghosts of the dead would come back to the Earth سُـبْحانَ الله. Halloween is widely celebrated in America and Europe and some parts of Asia. In modern times, Halloween is practiced by dressing up in a costume and partaking in parties, or most commonly 'trick or treats' where participants in dressed in a costume go around asking the resident of the home for 'trick or treats'. This statement is said to the resident of the home forcing them to offer candy or receive a 'trick' that might include an egg thrown or some other prank.
Once a person passes this worldly life the soul departs this world and enters the Al-barzakh (The Barrier), this is a plane that none of the living has seen. That soul remains in that plane until the day of ressurection. To believe in the soul returning to the Earthly life for whatsoever reason contradicts the belief of Islam.
As for celebrating Halloween, it is not reported in the sunnah of the Prophet صَلَّى ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِۦ وَسَلَّمَ that he himself practiced or any of his followers did so. Even if Muslims do practice this celebration this contradict the belief of the Muslim and consitute as shirk since, the belief that wearing a costume will ward of evil and Islam teaches us that it is Allah that protects us from evil. There are well known sunnan that teaches us to ward off evil such as reading Surah An-Nas or Al-Falaq, reciting Ayat Kursi and the like.
We ask Allah to protect us from evil and ignorance and we seek refuge with Allah from shaytaan.
